Join us for an evening of connection and learning as Momentum Conservation hosts our 2nd annual Living with the Land gathering - a celebration of community conservation. This event brings together conservation leaders, community members, and land stewards to explore how creative projects and community initiatives on conserved land can strengthen community health and holistic well-being.
Drawing on the success of last year's gathering, this event centers relationships as much as it centers ideas. Attendees will have dedicated time before the panel to connect with one another and interact with panelists through dedicated time for Q&A
• Social Hour from 5:00 - 6:00 pm- Vegetarian light bites (gluten free and vegan options) and a drink on Momentum (NA options avaliable). Connect with fellow conservation advocates over delicious local food!
• Panel from 6:00 - 7:30 pm - Hear from speakers doing great work across Maine! Panel moderated by Momentum Executive Director, Jess Burton, and panelist information below!
• Closing from 7:30 - 8:00 pm- Have some quick follow up conversations with each other and our panelists and grab a brownie for the road!
Meet Our Panelists:
In David Greenham’s two-and-a-half years as Executive Director at Viles Arboretum, he has led the effort to honor the history the 224-acre land preserve. He is an experienced non-profit manager and consultant who specializes in organizational development and creative problem solving. David is most fortunate to be able to not only work in a beautiful setting, but also partners with a passionate and dedicated team of staff and board members, along with dozens of community volunteers to ensure that we steward our land with honor and respect. A resident of Kennebec County since 1998, David lives in Gardiner with his wife, Amie, just up the hill from Johnson Hall.
Theresa Kerchner is the Executive Director of the Kennebec Land Trust (KLT) where she works with communities, partners, and landowners to support the ecological, social, and economic well-being of human and natural communities. Theresa is looking forward to talking about KLT’s commitment to conserving places that secure significant community values and ensuring that everyone feels welcome on our conservation properties.
Kaya Lolar: Kaya Lolar is a Panawahpskek (Penobscot) citizen and graduate of Harvard University (2025). She works as the Director of Policy & Wabanaki Studies at the Maine Environmental Education Association. Through this position, she has co-founded the Wabanaki Policy Youth Initiative, a first-of-its-kind project to amplify Wabanaki voices through the education and empowerment of our youth, providing them the opportunity to engage in firsthand advocacy work related to Wabanaki sovereignty/education.
